InfoDesk Releases Cloud Computing Solutions for the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Industries

Tarrytown, NY - InfoDesk announced today that it will introduce its next generation "Cloud Computing" content management solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotech and life science industries on Sunday, April 11, at the Spring meeting in Philadelphia of the Pharmaceutical and Health Technology Division (P&HT) of the Special Libraries Association.

"Cloud Computing," also known as "Platform as a Service (PaaS)," can facilitate deployment of applications without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software layers.

Cloud Computing, is simply Web-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand.

"Few pharmaceutical companies have anywhere near the information staff or resources they need to manage their vast information resources effectively on their own and the job is only getting harder," said Lynn Epstein , COO at InfoDesk. "InfoDesk's 'cloud solutions' offer several affordable, off-the-shelf options that can dramatically ease their information integration and distribution burden," Epstein added.

Two of those solutions, InfoViewer and InfoWatch, allow clients to better keep tabs on all the latest life science industry news, including drug pipeline development, Food and Drug Administration regulation, mergers and acquisition, and the increasingly global competitive environment. Both solutions consolidate companies' premium and open-source content resources into a single stream of federated, filtered and easily searchable real-time content. Breakthrough taxonomy, publishing, Web interface and portal options help information professionals to service their entire organization's information needs better. Both InfoViewer and InfoWatch include a variety of useful tools such as automated email alerts and custom briefings, further enhancing awareness and decision making.

"By using InfoDesk, a task that had previously taken several hours each day can now be completed in a fraction of the time and in a manner that provides a better, more professional, and more useful product," said Helen Kourlas, Manager, Drug Information & Pharmacogenomics at Medco.

Catherine Wagner, an independent information consultant, said that InfoDesk products are both a time and money saver for both her and her clients.

"InfoDesk filters out a lot of the 'noise' so I can click on search strategies and get a refined list of information," Wagner said. "My clients know I'm using a premium service to get them the information they need so they don't have to wade through a lot of extraneous content."

Demonstrations and additional product information will be available from InfoDesk at the P&HT meeting (Bordeaux Room, Table 8). Or contact Sean Smith, Director of Marketing at 202-365-6832 or sean.smith@infodesk.com.
